On The Road with Roada @ Pacific Playgrounds RV Resort

Hi Dee Ho fellow Adventurers!

Is spring being good to you? It certainly is to Madge and I. My sister is in heaven with all the spring blooms in her flowerpots and the beautiful gardens surrounding us at Chemainus Gardens. It’s certainly aptly named. You should really come and see, it’s better than Butchart IMO – but then, I’m a little biased as it IS our home!

I just called one of our favourite up-Island RV haunts, Pacific Playgrounds, to enquire about availability in the next few weeks. We’ve always found May and early June an easy time to travel and enjoy RV Parks on the Island but, it seems that the RV’ing public is growing and we’re learning that booking early is the best way to guarantee we’ll stay where we choose, when we choose. My advice? Don’t wait until the last minute!

We managed to get a nice week-long stretch at Pacific Playgrounds in Black Creek and we’re looking forward to seeing some of the wonderful improvements we’ve been hearing about so much on the radio! We’ve always loved the Resort, as is, however it’s never a good idea to stand still (my gypsy heart) and we’re pleased to hear that PP isn’t resting on its laurels. One of the things that caught my ear in particular was that they now have a Children Activities Co-ordinator! That IS exciting news, especially for grandparents like myself and Madge, who love their grandkids but also like a break every once in a while when they’re visiting. The “Activities” begin May Long Week-end.

The lovely thing about where Pacific Playgrounds is located is that you can do as much, or as little, as you like. For nature lovers, their location is ideal. Nestled in the trees along the bank of the peaceful Oyster River just as it flowsinto the Georgia Strait. This is a truly beautiful setting that offers fresh air, clear water and acres of park to allow you to escape, relax, enjoy, and yet have all amenities close at hand.

If being on-the-go is more your speed, they have a wide variety of activities available. Take a dip in their heated outdoor swimming pool, play a game of tennis, volleyball, bocci, or horseshoes, or maybe a round of golf.

You will find biking and hiking trails, horseback riding, their local Speedway for riding go-carts and Saturday night oval track racing fun, Miracle Beach Mini Golf, Mount Washington Recreation Area, Seaview Game Farm and a host of other local attractions are yours to discover.

Pacific Playgrounds offers 201 fully serviced and spacious sites allowing you to choose between family or adult oriented areas. Tenting sites are also available with power and water only. Shaded, sunny, on the river; choose what suits you best. If you prefer a self contained 2 bedroom cottage, they have 20 cottages. New this year are two RVs set up and ready for you to enjoy. One is a family-friendly model and the other an adult-oriented riverside unit. Advanced reservations are always recommended.

Their marina provides protected moorage and is ideal for easy access to Georgia Strait and Desolation Sound. In such a varied coastal location whether you prefer sail or power the possibilities are endless!

Whether you prefer land or water based activities or a combination of both, they are all right there for you at Pacific Playgrounds International! www.pacificplaygrounds.com
